Obituary for Mary M. Burns (Milyo)
Mary M. (Milyo) Burns, 87, of Barto, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at her home. She was the loving wife of Francis “Frank” H. Burns, sharing 65 years of marriage together.
Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Kunstek) Milyo.
Mary graduated from Misericordia Hospital Nursing School and was a registered nurse for over 25 years working at Philadelphia General, Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital, The White Billet Nursing Home and Abington Hospital.
She was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed, reading, baking and cooking, needlework, the church bingo, and some well-deserved travels. Mostly though, Mary enjoyed sharing good times at home with her family and friends.
Surviving along with her husband are her two children, John M. Burns and wife, Kathleen of Fleming Island, FL and Christine F. Blair of Barto; two grandchildren, David Burns and Ava Blair; and her two sisters, Margaret Westbrook and Martha “Beth” Carrington. Also remembered fondly are her many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 610 Pine St, Bally, PA 19503 with Father Kevin Gualano officiating. Burial will follow in the Most Blessed Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 am at the church prior to the service.
