Obituary for Robert V. Hitchens

Robert V. Hitchens, 90, widower of Anita M. (McDowell) Hitchens, formerly of Norristown and East Greenville, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at The Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.

Born in Phoenixville, PA, he was one of eleven children of the late Benjamin F. and Ida Mae (Minnick) Hitchens.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.

He worked as a Plate Mill Supervisor for the former Allenwood Steel Company in Conshohocken for 43 years retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Charity Lodge #190 F&AM, the VFW Post #1804 and the Jefferson Hunting and Fishing Club, all in Norristown.

Robert will be sadly missed by his two sons, Glen R. Hitchens and his wife, Amelia, of Los Alamitos, CA and Curtis C. Hitchens and his wife, Michelle, of Doylestown, PA; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased by 2 sons, Robert V. Hitchens, Jr. and Stephen A. Hitchens.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Offer sympathy to the family on our website at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
