Obituary for Linford E. Weiss

Linford E.  Weiss
Linford E. Weiss, 97, widower of June (Eaby) Weiss, formerly of East Greenville, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 in LifeQuest Nursing Center, Quakertown.

Born in Red Hill, he was a son of the late Harvey S. and Alice (Eschbach) Weiss.

Linford was employed by Goschenhoppen Mutual Insurance Company, Pennsburg for 55 years retiring in 1983. He served as the company’s Secretary, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was also a past President of the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies.

He was a graduate of Red Hill School, Pennsburg High School, and Allentown Business College. He was a veteran of World War II serving over four years in New Guinea and the Philippines and held the distinction of being the first to be drafted from the Borough of Red Hill. He was discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was elected to the East Greenville School Board and served as its Secretary at the time of Upper Perkiomen School District was formed. Linford served as Regional Board Member of the East Greenville Branch of the Industrial Valley Bank of Philadelphia. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Grand View Hospital of Sellersville.

Survivors include his companion, Ty McNeal of Quakertown, daughters, Margaret, wife of James Lucas of Wauseon, OH, Linda Munro of Melbourne, FL, and Karen, wife of Reiner Mauer of East Greenville, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Old Goshenhoppen Reformed Church, 2092 Church Road, Woxall. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA.
