Joseph C. "Joe"  Malchitsky
Joseph Charles “Joe” Malchitsky, 83, husband of Mildred (Starruick) Malchitsky, formerly of West Oakdale, Freeland, PA, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.

Born in Eckley, PA, he was the son of the late John and Veronica (Kaschak) Malchitsky.

Joe was a baseball player for the Jeddo Stars A.A., in the late 1940’s. After graduation from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corp, serving in the Korean Conflict.

He worked at Graterford Prison for 32 years, as a guard and then became farm manager until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of St. Eleanor’s Church for 42 years, St. Mary’s in Lattimer Mines, PA, V.F.W.-Freeland, PA, Jeddo Stars A.A. and the N.R.A.

Joe loved fishing and especially hunting. His greatest pleasure was deer hunting with his son and grandson.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 61 years, is his only son Joseph P. “Joe” Malchitsky and his wife, Kathy of Perkiomenville, PA; sisters, Mary Rock of Graterford, PA, Anna Yanek of Collegeville, PA, and Irene Hannisack of Freeland, PA; two grandchildren, Michael Malchitsky and wife, Colleen and Kristen, wife of Thomas “Tommy” Iannarelli; five great grandchildren, Giovanna, Mason, Milania, Hannah, and Vincenzo. He was predeceased by two brothers John and Thomas Malchitsky, and one sister Margaret Marmello.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at The Church of St. Mary’s of Delphi, 40 Spring Mount Road, Schwenksville, PA 19473, with the Rev. Louis P. Bellopede. Burial will be private. There will be no viewing. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville.
