Charlotte D. (Swann) Purnell, 77, wife of Russell A. Purnell of Perkiomenville, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.

Born in Congo, PA, she was a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Helen (Bobick) Swann.

She was a graduate of Boyertown High School and Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing in Norristown.

Charlotte worked as a Registered Nurse for Pottstown Memorial Medical Center for over 25 years, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Charlotte was a past President of Boyertown Junior Women’s Club. She loved cooking, animals, nature, fishing, playing bridge and exercise. She loved to be with her husband, family and friends in Florida and Wildwood.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 34 years, are 3 children, Susan Fryer and husband, Mark, Gilbertsville, PA; Dr. Constance “Connie” Wong and husband, Gerald, Honolulu, HI; and Robert J. Cox and wife, Tracy, Boyertown, PA; two step-children, David Purnell and wife, Tammy and Karen Kerns and husband, Donald, Boyertown, PA; a brother, Michael P. Swann and wife, Susan, Red Hill, PA and twelve grandchildren. She was predeceased by a nephew, Michael Swann.

A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. There will be a viewing 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA.
