Obituary for John E. Borchelt

John E.  Borchelt
John E. Borchelt, 84, husband of Thelma L. (Thackery) Borchelt, of Bally, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in Phoebe Richland Health Care Center.

Born in Batesville, IN, he was a son of the late Edwin and Flora (Narwold) Borchelt.

John was a 1947 graduate of Batesville High School, Batesville, IN.

He worked for over 30 years as an Operator for the Gas Turbin Co., Texas Eastern, Bechtelsville and as a Sales Clerk for Van Buskirk’s, Pottstown.

He was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Barto and the Oley Gun club. He loved hunting, skeet and Trap shooting and NASCAR.

John served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 64 years in August; sons, Michael Borchelt and wife, Dorothy, Boyertown; Don Borchelt and wife, April, East Greenville; Steve Borchelt and wife, Cindi, Boyertown; brothers, Herschel Borchelt, Avon FL and Paul Borchelt and wife, Vyona, Batesville, IN; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Trevor, Trisha, Tracie and Kori; nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Valerie Christine.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Rt. 100, Barto, PA 19504 with Rev. Elmer Reinhold officiating. There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Christ Union Cemetery, Niantic. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA. Offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
