Winifred V. (O’Kane) Venit, 78, widow of John M. Venit, of Pennsburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem.
Born February 18, 1941 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Esther Mary (Hammond) O’Kane.
Winifred was a 1959 graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls and then a Medical Secretary for American College of Physicians, Temple University Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Her last job was at Auxilium Pharmaceuticals as a packager.
She was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Bally and also a member of The Elk’s in Wildwood, NJ.
Winifred enjoyed crafting and reading in her spare time and loved the shore.
Surviving are four children. Winifred M. Houk and husband, Robert, Jr. of Pennsburg, John T. Venit and wife, Angela of Warminster, Steven J. Venit and wife, Kathleen of Ridley and Andrew J. Venit and wife, Danielle of Media; 13 grandchildren: Theresa Barnes, Andrew Houk, Rebeca Houk, Robert Houk Grace Venit, Steven Venit, Thomas Venit, Carly Venit, Jared Venit, Naythan Venit, Jonathan Venit and Brandan Venit; 3 Great-Grandchildren: Brielle, Rosabella and Andrew; 3 sisters: Kathleen Kramer, Mary McCann and Rita Godfrey; and four brothers, John O’Kane, Robert O’Kane, F.S.C., Daniel O’Kane and James O’Kane.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a grandson, Joseph Houk; and three brothers, Samuel, Joseph and Thomas O’Kane.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 610 Pine Street, Bally, PA 19503 with Rev. Kevin Gualano officiating. A burial will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 to 11 am at the church prior to mass.
