William A. “Bill” Ritting, Jr., 87, husband of Gladys G. (Lemke) Ritting, of Souderton, died Monday at Abington Hospice at Warminster. He and his wife celebrated 54 years of marriage on June 30, 2010.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William Albyn., Sr. and Frances Elizabeth (Enoches) Ritting.
Along with his brother, he was co-owner of Ritting Bros. Striping Service until he retired in December 2000.
He was a crew member for dirt track modified stock cars, a member of Masonic Lodge #732, Woodworth-Webb American Legion Post #293, Interlachen, FL, lifelong member of International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades and enjoyed auto racing, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Flyers.
Surviving along with his wife are a son, William A. “Bill” Ritting, III and wife, Lori of Green Lane; a brother, Richard J. Ritting and wife, Helen of Interlachen, FL; four sisters, Elizabeth J. “Betty” Schmitt of Doylestown, Carole A. Reilley and husband, Alexander of Huntingdon Valley, Nancy Ernst and husband, William of Annapolis, MD and Donna Dietrich and husband, Howard of Mantua, NJ; twin granddaughters, Allison and Megan Ritting; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Doris Oertel and Robert Ritting.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville with Rev. Rebecca A. Kahnt officiating.
