William B. Fairer

William B. Fairer of Telford, PA, died on September 29, 2024. He was born in Easton, PA the son of the late Dr. Edmund B. Fairer and the late Rhoda (Ackroyd) Fairer. He was the husband of Dorothy (Baringer) Fairer and of the late Vera Lenoir (Powell) Fairer who was killed in an auto accident in 1970. He attended the Wilson area schools, Easton area schools and the Belvidere NJ High School where he graduated in 1943.

He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 being honorably discharged as and Aviation Electronic Technicians Mate, First Class. (He maintained the early forms of aviation radar.)

He graduated from Penn State in 1950 with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and began working for Bell Atlantic (the former Bell Telephone Company of PA) in Harrisburg, PA, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek and a former Deacon. He served on many committees.

Bill enjoyed golfing, photography, gardening, fishing as a young man and traveling. He has been in forty-six of the continental United States and seven Canadian Provinces.

Bill was very active in Freemasonry. He was a member of Easton Lodge No. 142 and then Newtown Lodge No. 427 where he served as Worshipful Master in 1973. A member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in the Valley of Allentown, PA where he served as Most Wise Master of the Bethlehem Chapter of Rose Croix in 1970 and then Commander-in-Chief of Lehigh Consistory from 1975 to 1977. In 1971 he was made a Thirty-Third Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite. A member of Rajah Shrine in Reading, PA and the North Penn Shrine Club where he served as President in 1983. A member of Lenape Chapter No. 339, Order of the Eastern Star where he served as Worthy Patron. He was formerly a member of Lansdale Royal Arch Chapter No. 301, Damascus Commandry No. 95 in Lansdale, PA, Cryptic Council No. 51 in Norristown, North Penn High Twelve Club, the Red Cross of Constantine and the Royal Order of Scotland.

He was a former President of Indian Valley County Club and was a former Judge of Elections in his voting district.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Vera and son, Robert Edmund Fairer. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, a son William B. Jr. and wife Beverly, of Bridgeton, NJ; a daughter Deborah, wife of Charles Coder of Bellefonte, PA; a stepdaughter DottiAnne wife of Donald Edmonds Jr., of Zionsville, PA; a daughter-in-law, Philippa Fairer; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held in the chapel at The Lutheran Community at Telford, 12 Lutheran Home Dr., Telford, PA 18969 on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 10-11 am with services following at 11 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Children's Dyslexia Center of Lehigh Valley, 1533 Hamilton St., Allentown, PA 18102.
