William “Pete” Emmell, 82, of Red Hill, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Parkhouse Providence Pointe surrounded by his family. He was the husband of LaRue (Haines) Brennan Emmell, celebrating 34 years of marriage on July 21st.
Born in Upper Merion Township, he was the son of the late Edward and Ella (Tucker) Emmell.
He was a truck driver for Matlack Inc., and served as a Teamsters Shop Steward prior to retiring in the 1980’s. Early in his career he drove for Rittenhouse Trucking. During his retirement, he was a school bus driver for Gross Bus Service until 2000. In his youth he was a volunteer fireman and driver for Center Square Fire Dept. and raced Stock Cars at Grandview Speedway.
He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.
Surviving along with his wife are 7 children, Donna, wife of Charles Wiegle of Swans Island, Maine, Mary Schmidt of Schwenksville, Kathleen, wife of Joseph Vuotto of Pottstown, Rosemarie Hood, wife of Michael Daly of Trappe, Eileen, wife of Glenn Davis of Barto, Jane, wife of Rick Greiss of Gilbertsville, and John Emmell of Pottstown; two sisters, Louise Garner of King of Prussia and Irma Heminghaus of Spring City; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Marie Daly.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Philip Neri Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg with Rev. Robert Roncase officiating. Burial follows in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. at church. The Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville is in charge of the arrangements.
