William H. Bartholomew, Jr., 89 husband of Louise M. (Sell) Bartholomew, of East Greenville, PA, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at home.
Born in Ironton, PA, he was a son of the late Carrie Ann (Wheeler) and William H. Bartholomew, Sr.
He worked as a Machine Operator for the former Boise Cascade, East Greenville.
William was a lifelong member of VFW Post #5954, Red Hill where he was the former Commander for 5 years and a member of the.American Legion Post #184, East Greenville.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 68 years, are his nine children, William H. Bartholomew, II, and wife, Sharon, of Douglasville, PA; Joseph A. Bartholomew and wife, Diane, of Barto, PA; Harvey K. Bartholomew, of Pennsburg, PA; Richard J. Bartholomew and wife, Michelle, of East Greenville; Kenneth P. Bartholomew, of East Greenville, PA; Theresa, wife of Thomas McKenrick, of East Greenville, PA; Elizabeth A. Dash, of Reading, PA; Mary C., wife of David Drop, of Spartanburg, N.C.; and Matthew J. Bartholomew and wife, Mary, of Boyertown, PA; siblings, Charles Bartholomew and wife, Ida, of Whitehall, PA, Benjamin Bartholomew and wife, Ella, of Bethlehem, PA, and Dorothy Simwell, of Quakertown, PA; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sons, Robert, James, Elvis Bartholomew; and 11 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA with Rev. Dr. Barry L. Moyer officiating. There will be a visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
