Wilbur Herwig

September 4, 1936 — July 9, 2020

Wilbur Frank Herwig, Sr., 83, of Quakertown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Frances L. (Seal) Herwig, sharing 31 years of marriage together.

Born in Easton, PA, he was the son of the late Wilbur B. and Martha (Briner) Herwig.

Wilbur served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1959. After being honorably discharged, he started a career as a heavy duty truck mechanic, working at several companies; including, Longacre’s, Bergey’s and Haines and Kibblehouse.

He was a member of the Tri-boro Marine Corp League. He loved horses and rode in a few rodeos throughout his life.

Surviving are his 6 children, Patricia Herwig, Joseph Herwig and wife, Beth, Wilbur Herwig, Jr. and wife Sandy, Elizabeth Giranda and husband, James, Lisa Herwig and partner, Stacy and Richard Herwig and wife, Stephanie; three step-children, Laura Johnson and husband, James, Jonathan Hepler and fiancé, Michelle, and Sandra Hovermale; a sister, Helen Heisey and husband, Jacob; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth Herwig; a brother, Ernest; a granddaughter, Amanda Hovermale; and his beloved horse Smoke.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Old Goshenhoppen Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA.
