Walter L. Kratzer, 92, husband of the late Jean (Stairs) Kratzer, of Frederick Living and formerly of Huntingdon Valley, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Grand View Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Albert and Blanche (Schnitzel) Kratzer.
He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the Battleship USS New Mexico during World War II.
He was a Laboratory Technician at RCA, GE in Camden, NJ for 45 years retiring in 1983.
He was a former member of the Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church and served as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #203 in Philadelphia and earned his Eagle Scout, Vigil Order of the Arrow and Silver Beaver awards.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Richard W. Kratzer and Robert W. Kratzer; his daughter-in-law, Carol (Gilbert) Kratzer; a sister, Kathryn Iverson; four grandchildren, David Kratzer, Deborah Sipmeier, Jennifer Scoma and Michael Kratzer and five great grandchildren, Alexander, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Matthew and Salvatore.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 with the Rev. Brad Mellon, Chaplain of Frederick Living officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
