Vito Colapietro

April 12, 1948 — January 28, 2023

Vito Joseph Colapietro, 74, of Pennsburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. He was the loving husband of Vicki A. (Lutz) Colapietro, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.

Born in Easton, PA, he was the son of the late Vincent and Margaret (Luparelli) Colapietro.

Vito graduated from Easton Area High School, class of 1966. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Albright College in 1970 and earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Temple University. Vito was employed at Shawnee Intermediate School in the Easton Area School District as a beloved eighth grade chemistry teacher for his entire teaching career before retiring in 2005. Mr. Cole, as his students referred to him, was a natural born teacher and is remembered by the thousands of students he taught for many reasons including the funny nicknames he gave them. As a teacher there, he became a role model for his students and a mentor to his fellow faculty members. He nurtured this skill outside of the chemistry classroom by assisting with the school jazz band, marching band, and pit orchestra. Upon his retirement, an award bearing his name was given annually to a student musician for their talent and humor. An accomplished pianist and singer, decades of his life were spent as the lead singer/keyboardist in a popular wedding band called “Portrait.”

What many will remember Vito most by was his love for the New York Yankees. From listening to them on the radio to watching them on a big screen TV, Vito rarely missed a game.

In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly remembered by his two children, Chris J. Colapietro and wife, Nicole of Frisco, TX and Lisa A. Colapietro and husband, Grant Holmes of Ambler, PA; two grandchildren, Danielle and Brandon Colapietro; and his sister, MaryAnn Vermilya of Easton, PA.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann- Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Kidney Foundation of Central PA, 900 S Arlington Ave #134a, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
