Virginia D. (Dieter) Hallman Geunes Reinbold, 89, of Pottstown, died October 22, 2012 at Reading Hospital. She was the widow of Staff Sgt. Sherwood Hallman who was killed in World War II and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and is buried in France and also Paul J. Geunes and Harvey Reinbold.
Born in Kimberton, Pennsylvania she was a daughter of the late Henry and Genevieve (Dollard) Dieter.
She retired as a bookkeeper from Harry Rinker Antiques in Vera Cruz and had also worked for Plummer Precision Optics and Ludwick Motors. She and her husband, Paul owned Geunes Cut Rate Store in Spring City for several years.
She was proud to be a dignitary celebrating the 50th Anniversary of D-Day and attended the celebration in France. She authored a book in memory of her late husband, Sherwood and his dedicated service to his country.
She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her six children, Sherwood Hallman II and wife, Patricia of Boyertown, Suzanne Jefferis of Pottstown, Paul D. Geunes and wife, Vicki of Pennsburg, Karen Geunes-Boyer of Chester Springs, Richard Geunes and Denise of Reading and Rob Geunes and wife, Renee of Fleetwood; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by brothers, Jack, Ed and Dan and sisters, Frances and Alice.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg with the Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Burial follows in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville.
