Verna W. (Stubanus) Thomas, 99, widow of George B. Thomas, formerly of Green Lane and Red Hill, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 in Pennsburg Manor.
Born in Green Lane, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Gertrude (Witmer) Thomas.
Verna worked as a seamstress at the former Sumneytown Pants Factory for many years retiring in 1980.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Red Hill where she had been member of the Lunch Bunch of the church. She was also a member of the Green Lane Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Carol Ann, wife of Linwood Stoudt of Pennsburg and R. Roger Thomas and wife, Renee of Red Hill; 5 grandchildren, Leslie Swartz, Lori Demmel, Brian Thomas and Sherri Miller; 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters. Along with her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a brother, Richard Stubanus, a sister, Helen Himmelwright and her grandson, Evan Stoudt.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, 1244 St. Paul’s Church Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Rev. Wayne D. Moritz officiating.
