Susan E. (Somers) Reed, 97, of Pennsburg, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Phoebe Richland Health Care in Richlandtown. She was the loving wife of the late Edward L. Reed, Sr., founder of Reed Sign Company in Pennsburg. They shared 75 years of marriage together before his passing in September of 2016.
She was born on December 18, 1921 in Philadelphia to the late William A. and Annie S. (Bernhardt) Somers.
Susan was a 1939 graduate of Mastbaum Area Vocational-Technical School majoring in home economics. She spent her years raising and loving her family.
Surviving are her sons: Edward L. Reed, Jr. and wife, Elaine H. of Macungie, Robert A. Reed, Sr. and wife, Linda S. of Red Hill, and Ronald E. Reed and wife, Wanda L. of Pennsburg; seven grandchildren: Edward T. Reed and wife, Connie, Denise E. Schwind and husband, Brian, Debra L. Long, Jennifer L. Duka and husband, Matthew, Robert A. Reed, Jr. and wife, Tara, Jason S. Reed and wife, Amy, and Kristin N. Ott and husband, David; 12 great-grandchildren: Erica, Madalyn, Justin, Cody, Amanda, Alyssa, Shae, Boris, Malachi, Zachary, Nathan, Abigail, Colton and Quinton; one great-great-granddaughter: Elliana; and a sister: Mary Rudolph.
She is predeceased by nine siblings: William, Edward, Edna, John, Anna, Joseph, Bertha, Helen and Catherine.
