Stanley Joseph “Joe” Cias, Sr., 85, loving husband of Stella (Dudyk) Cias, married 61 years this past July, of Perkiomenville, died on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Lehigh Valley Hospice Center, Allentown.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Josef and Catherine (Mayta) Cias.
He was employed as an electrician for 36 years at Dana Corporation, Pottstown, retiring in 1982. He was a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, a member of Sassamansville and Gilbertsville Fire Companies, a part-time farmer, a member of Hillside Hunting Camp and was a WWII Navy Veteran.
Surviving along with his wife are five daughters, Kathleen Henry and husband, Richard J., Sr. of East Greenville, Joanne Shaw and the late Michael V. of Morton, Rosemarie Moyer and husband, William of Hewitt, TX, Patricia Moyer and husband, Robin C. of Stowe, and Barbara J. Tim and husband, John of Perkiomenville; two sons, Stanley J. Cias, Jr. and partner, Basil Hernandez of Granada Hills, CA and Stephen J. Cias of Barto; a sister, Virginia Nice and husband, Leon of Souderton; fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Joe was predeceased by siblings, Mary Riff, Helen Franke and Edward Cias.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. A viewing will be held from 10 to 12 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
