Shirley K. (Bernhard) Hoffman, 81, of Barto, widow of Homer S. Hoffman, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA.
Born in Clayton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Kathrine (Slonaker) Bernhard.
She was a seamstress at various clothing factories in the Boyertown area for many years before retiring.
She was a longtime member of Christ Mertz Lutheran Church in Dryville, PA.
She is survived by her children, Beverly A., wife of Dale A. Leister of Mertztown, Bryan H. Hoffman and wife, Marcia A. of Boyertown, Timothy S. Hoffman and wife, Nadine S. of Bechtelsville, Penny L., wife of Frederick W. Ziegler of Barto, PA and Cory A. Hoffman and wife, Lynette M. of Barto; grandchildren, Blake Leister, Nicole Whitehead, Kyle Hoffman, Kelly Hoffman, Drew Hoffman, Dana Van Nostrand, Noah Ziegler, Brent Ziegler and Cory “C.J.” Hoffman, Jr.; great grandchildren, Addison Hoffman, Silas Whitehead, Aiden Van Nostrand and Austin Ziegler; a sister, Nancy, wife of Lawrence of Bally and sister in laws, Nancy Bernhard and Mabel Schultz.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her siblings Betty Hoffman, Arlan and Henry “Mickey” Bernhard and Alice “Tootsie” Fissel.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Rd, Fleetwood, PA with Rev. Cheryl Meinschein officiating. Burial will follow in Christ Union Cemetery-Niantic. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
