Sergius J. Szuhaj, 64, husband of Kathleen A. (Lilly) Szuhaj, of East 6th Street, Red Hill, died on September, 2 2010 at home.
Born in Altoona, PA he was a son of the late John P. and Anna (Kluba) Szuhaj.
He was an Earth Science Teacher for 30 years at Perkiomen Valley High School retiring in 1997.
He was a 1967 graduate with a B.S. from Penn State University and a 1970 graduate with a M.S. Ed. from Temple University.
He was an active member in the Perkiomen Valley community belonging to many organizations including, Red Hill Borough Council, served as a little league coach, Upper Perkiomen Police Commission, Planning Commission, Upper Perkiomen Valley Library Board, NEA, PSEA, PVEA, Green Lane Fire House, Red Hill Fire House, East Greenville Fire House, St. Stan's Brotherhood in Altoona, PA, East Greenville Owls, Red Hill V.F.W., Zionsville Community Fish and Game. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and was an avid Penn State Fan. "We Are Penn State!"
Surviving along with his wife are two sons, Todd M Szuhaj of Grasonville, MD and Jeffrey M. Szuhaj and wife, Kristin of Pennsburg; a sister, Barbara Dinsmore and husband Ed of Sturgis, MI; a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at The Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA. Calling will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
