Sadie Walker

January 3, 1921 — May 17, 2014

Sadie M. (Baus) Walker, 93, widow of Robert M. Walker, formerly of Penny Road, Green Lane, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at LifeQuest Nursing Center.

Born in Red Hill, she was a daughter of the late Morris and Mary (Wambold) Baus. She was raised at the Topton Lutheran Orphanage from age three to eighteen and at age 18 she became the assistant cook there and after leaving the home she would return for Anniversary Days.

She worked for 40 years as a seamstress at the former Sumneytown Pants Factory retiring in 1983.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sumneytown where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the Planning Committee, WELCA and WAGS of the church. She also helped with many social activities of the church including the Rummage Sale and quilting and also in the kitchen of the church for the Turkey Supper, making Corn Pies, Chow Chow, Fastnachts and Sticky Buns. She was also an active member of the Pennsburg Golden Agers, the Upper Perk Senior Center and the Montco-Berks Golden Age.

Surviving are two daughters, Anita, widow of Dean Hagenbuch of East Greenville and Roberta, wife of Herbert Shauger of Daytona, Florida; 7 grandchildren, Terry Breyer, Gail Uhl, Kenneth Hagenbuch, Rodney Hagenbuch, Jeff Shauger, Rebecca Rapahial, Robyn Hartman; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by two brothers, John and Henry Baus and two half-sisters, Myrtle Lasko and Alma.

A graveside funeral service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Frieden’s Union Cemetery, 1011 Church Road, Sumneytown, PA with Rev. Rebecca Eisenhart officiating.
