Ruth Lillian (Worthington) Weikel, 93, died December 29, 2010 at Pennsburg Manor Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of the late Clarence Comly Weikel.
Born in Rushland, PA, she was the daughter of Mary (Smith) and Clinton Worthington.
She is survived by daughters Phyllis wife of Fred Scheirer of Barto and Mary wife of Robert McCarty Sr. of East Greenville with whom she resided. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a son James Weikel III husband of Deborah of Red Hill, an infant granddaughter Susan Heidelmark, a grandson, Wallace Heidelmark, who passed away earlier this year, sisters Ellen Lightcap and Elizabeth Hottenson.
Previously from Philadelphia, Ruth had been employed by Sears for nearly 15 years. She worked for a short time in the Bindery at Brown Printing after relocating to the Upper Perkiomen Valley before retiring to care for her disabled husband until his passing in 1987.
Ruth was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Green Lane.
‘Gram’ has always been a significant and welcome part of the lives of her children and grandchildren and is greatly missed by all.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville. Interment will follow in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery, Pennsburg.
