Ruth (Derr) Oliver, 85, wife of Herbert E. Oliver, Jr., of Perkiomenville, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late Garland and Ruth (Weaver) Derr.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and loved to read and write poetry.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 66 years; are two children, Herbert E. Oliver, III and wife, Patricia, of New Hanover Twp. and Cheryl, wife of Donald Weldon of Perkiomenville; a brother, Gary Derr and wife, Rosanne, of Sunbury and a sister, Garlene Chapleski, of Vineland, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Heather, Kelly, Sheena, Jenna, Steven; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Parker, Grayson. Along with her parents she was predeceased by one brother, Charles Derr.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA with Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating.
