Rudolf Mauer, Jr., 85, of Palm, PA, passed away Friday morning, October 28, 2016. He was the loving husband of the late Maria (Jung) Mauer for 46 years.
Born in Konigsfeld, Bosnia, he was the son of the late Rudolf, Sr. and Elisabeth (Trautman) Mauer. He and his family immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1956.
Rudy was employed as a woodworker at Knoll Group, East Greenville, PA retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Pennsburg, PA where he was an active volunteer in addition to serving as volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program in the Upper Perkiomen Valley. Rudy was an adoring father and “Opa”; he enjoyed playing soccer as a young man and later with his grandchildren; he loved to dance.
Rudolf is survived by his daughter, Erika and her husband, Craig Hemperly, Macungie, PA, daughter, Gloria and her husband, Joel Stauffer, Harleysville, PA and son, Reiner Mauer and his wife, Karen, East Greenville, PA. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Michael, Stephen, Elisabeth, Jenna, Jamie, Joanna and Ellyse. He will also be missed by his dear companion, Regina Miller, his brother, Heinrich Mauer and his sister, Karoline Dries.
A funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 81 N. Main Street, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Charles E. Romanowski officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 3-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the church prior to the funeral service.
