Ronald J. Zorn, Sr., 91, of Pennsburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Life Quest Nursing Center. He was the loving husband of Alice E. (Sheehan) Kirsch Zorn and his first wife, the late, Sharlene (Coulter) Zorn.
Born in Pitcarin, Pa, he was the son of the late Jacob and Edith (Williams) Zorn.
Ron worked for many years for Westinghouse at various locations, first as a draftsman, and later as a technical sales/ applications engineer. He also worked at ITE, Radiation in Melbourne, FL and Leeds & Northrup, as an electrical sale / application engineer, in which he excelled. Later, he also worked for Decision Data, where he developed the skills to run his own add agency in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Ron never had any official schooling for any of this; it was the Lord’s blessing and guidance, as well as his own intelligence, diligence and industriousness that moved him along in his professions.
It was while he was working in Baltimore, MD for Westinghouse, that both he and his first wife, Sharlene accepted Christ while attending church there. Not long afterwards, Ron felt a call to go into pastoral ministry. He moved back Philadelphia, PA where he attended Reformed Episcopal Seminary, and a few years later moved himself and his family to Providence, RI to go to Providence Barrington Seminary. Unfortunately, it proved too much of a challenge to provide for his family while going to school, so he was unable to finish. However, Ron always felt led to serve the Lord, and served as an elder in many churches, as well as helping to plant and build a church in Irwin, PA. Among these are the former RP church in Oreland, PA, Lansdale PCA, and Hope Presbyterian Church in Syracuse, NY. Ron was currently a member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Quakertown.
In his leisure time Ron enjoyed Hunting and camping.
He is also survived by his two children, Gail Carey, wife of George of Lansdale, PA and Ronald J. Zorn, Jr. and wife, Robyn of Beaver Falls, PA; Three step-children; Steve Kirsch of Silverdale, PA, Paula Kancianic of Pottstown, and Greg Kirsch of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Will, Amy, Sally, Tyler and Aaron; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Thiel. In addition to his first wife, Sharlene, he is also predeceased by a brother, John “Jack” Zorn.
