Ronald Earl Schaffer was born September 22, 1938 to Earl and Edna Schaffer in Gilbertsville, Pa., He passed away peacefully at Slate Belt Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bangor, Pa on June 26, 2023.
Ron was a 1956 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School. He worked for Harleysville Insurance for many years. He also was a real estate agent for Paul Brandt Realty, Sumneytown. He was active with the Green Lane Ambulance and Fire Company. He was a Councilman at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sumneytown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing stories and cheering on the Phillies.
Ronald is predeceased by a sister, Gail Cole.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Bethlehem; daughter April, wife of Ken Gaugler of Saylorsburg; and son Brian Schaffer and wife Kathleen of Wescosville; five grandchildren Daniel Caciolo and wife Jen of Macungie, Jarred Caciolo and wife Laura of Barto, Dylan Gaugler and wife Katreya, of Barto, Amanda Ocoro and husband Victor of Albany, Georgia, and Brooke Schaffer of Millsboro, Delaware; and six great-grandchildren Nick, Emily, Teagan, Bella, Leah, and Magnolia.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Frieden's UCC, Sumneytown, Pa.
