Robert N. Jones, 94, of Palm, passed away Wednesday, March 07, 2018, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Lucile S. (Fox) Jones, celebrating 68 years of marriage on January 22, 2018.
Born in Exeter, New Hampshire, he was a son of the late Amos Herbert and Leah (Jasmine) Jones.
Bob proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII and Korea also serving as an airplane mechanic. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer.
He worked for Stanley Vidmar in Allentown, PA, where he held many roles for 23 years before retiring as a quality control inspector in 1988.
Bob was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association since 1965, AARP since 1987, Special Military Active Retired Travel Club since 1995, the American Legion since 1997 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1998. He also participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the Over the Hill Gang, Partners for Community Preservation, and was a Boy Scouts Institutional Representative for Scout Troupe 79.
He was a member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church in Palm where he was a member of the Senior Choir since 1984, the Men of Palm, and served on Diaconate for three years. He also did volunteer work for the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center.
Surviving along with his wife, are three daughters, Gail A., wife of Robert L. Brown of Red Hill, Donna L., wife of Terry T. Sneed of Harrisburg and Robin M., wife of Charlie A. Hepler of Coopersburg; six grandchildren, Heath A. Brown, Timothy J. Laubach, Lori N. Bardo, Stephen P. Laubach, Emily K. Mwaipopo, and Kristen L. Vigil; and eleven great-grandchildren, Tyler Bardo, Payten Vigil, Cole Vigil, Hayden Brown, Kianna Mwaipopo, Raelyn Levan, Bailey Bardo, Aaliyah Mwaipopo, Sabrina Laubach and Dylan Brown.
He is predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Kimberly Conrad; brothers, William H. Jones and Arthur Jones; and sister, Carolyn (Kay) M. Fox.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Palm Schwenkfelder, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm, PA 18070 with Rev. Nicholas Pence officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041.
