He was an active member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ in East Greenville, PA. He loved to be in nature, whether it was walking, hiking or being on the water in his canoe. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica and was an avid Disney and Philadelphia Phillies fan.

Surviving are his three children, Andrew Whitcomb and wife, Jodi of Allentown, PA, Benjamin Whitcomb and wife, Khara of East Greenville, PA and Amy Hangey of East Greenville, PA; his three grandsons, Joshua and wife, Hannah, Zachary and Paul Whitcomb; a sister, Nancy Wardle and husband, Bruce of Green Lane, PA; Brother-in law, Roger Frank and and Sister-in law, Dale Westwood; and many nieces and nephews.
