Richard "Dick" J. Hagg, 77, of East Greenville, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Esther L. (Freed) Hagg sharing 41 years of marriage together.
Born in Phillipsburg, PA on Christmas day in 1942, he was the son of the late John A. and Wilhelmina
(Grieble) Hagg.
After graduating from Tyrone Area High School, Richard went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. After being honorably discharged, he started his career at Merck Sharp and Dohme before retiring in 2004.
Richard was a patriotic member of the VFW post 5954. He was also a member of St. Philip Neri R.C. Church in Pennsburg.
Richard loved spending time with his family and was an avid fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Surviving with Richard's wife are his three daughters: Melody Fehr and husband Timothy, Ashley Hagg-Custer, and Melissa Wiesike and husband Brian. Also surviving Richard are his seven grandchildren: Mercedes and husband Nasser, Melinda and husband John, Kyle, Emily, Anna, Daniel and wife Mika, and Lauren; and one great-granddaughter, Elmira. He is also survived by his brother, Albert Hagg. He is remembered as "The Bull" by David Dietrich, Shawn Custer, and many others.
Richard is preceded in death by his brothers Ray and Tom.
A funeral mass will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at St. Philip Neri R.C. Church. 1325 Klinerd Rd., Pennsburg, PA 18073. A burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10:30 – 12 at the church prior to mass. Arrangements entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.
