Richard “Dick” Guldin, 85, of Pennsburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. He was the loving husband of Eleanor M. (Huseman) Guldin, sharing 63 years of marriage.
Born in East Greenville, he was the son of the late Horace and Mae (Young) Guldin.
Dick was a 1955 graduate of East Greenville High School and served his country proudly in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged, he worked various jobs before becoming employed and retiring from Merck Sharp & Dohme. After retirement, Dick spent many years as a funeral attendant at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, where he offered comfort and guidance to many families throughout the Upper Perkiomen Valley.
Richard was a member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church where he sang in the choir. He was also previously active in many church committees at both Palm Schwenkfelder and New Goshenhoppen UCC. He was a former Cub Master of Pack 244 and was involved with Boy Scout Troop 108. He was also a former fireman and member of East Greenville Fire Co.
A jokester at heart, he could always be found whistling, humming or singing. He loved to be outdoors; especially camping, hunting, fishing or bird watching. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving along with his wife, are his four children, Susan Bardman and husband, Jody, Jeffrey Guldin and wife, Donna, Darrell Guldin and Steven Guldin; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Krista, Heather and husband, Andrew, Stephanie, Matthew and Alyssa; two great-grandchildren, Margot and Poppy; and three sisters, Margaret Shankel, Helen Holiday and Marian Heist and husband, Rodney. He is predeceased by a son, Ernest Guldin; and three brothers, Ernest, Donald and Jere.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm, PA 18070 with a burial to follow in New Goshenhoppen UCC Cemetery in East Greenville. Family and friends may visit with the family from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at Palm Schwenkfelder prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.
