Richard Allen Gery, 84, of Palm Hill Road, Palm died Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family and his faithful companion, Hooch. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Delores J. (Eppler) Gery in 1991, after 40 years of marriage.
Born in East Greenville, PA, he was a son of the late Clarence K. & Elsie E. (Folk) Gery.
He was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, East Greenville.
He was previously employed at ICI America in Valley Forge for 27 years, retiring in 1991 to care for his ailing wife.
Among his interests over the years, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, and cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Flyers, Redskins, and Dodgers. He also enjoyed raising a number of Boxers and spending time with his family which gave him great joy.
He will be remembered as a hard worker, with a great sense of humor and a grateful spirit.
Surviving are six children, Richard A. Gery, Jr. and wife, Denise of Whitehall, Dale R. Gery and wife, Cindy of Red Hill, Kelly A. Hummel and husband, Alan of Macungie, Bryan W. Gery and companion, Sarah Kline of East Greenville, Tracy L. Donmoyer and husband, Devin of Lancaster and Kim J. Checkeye and husband, Ben of Coopersburg; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one on the way; three siblings, Donald H. Gery and companion, Hazel Christman of East Greenville, Barbara Asaris and husband, Sam of Richlandtown and Barry L. Gery and wife, Jill of Perkasie. Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence F. Gery, Jr. and Charles H. Gery.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, PA 18041 with the Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens officiating. Interment follows in New Goshenhoppen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
