Ralph A. Ackerman, 87, of Oaktree Court, Frederick, formerly of Green Lane, died on Sunday, February 20, 2011 in his home. He was the husband of the late Doris V. (Fleck) Ackerman.
Born in Green Lane, PA, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Emma (Zepp) Ackerman.
He was a partner of Boyertown Publishing Company for many years retiring in 1991. Prior to that he worked in the composing room for the Mercury and Town & Country Newspapers and also operated the Valley Printing Company in Green Lane during the 1960s.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving with the SeaBee’s in World War II.
He was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sumneytown.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn R., wife of Herbert H. Landis of Linfield; two grandchildren, Michael Landis and his wife, Jodi of Schwenksville and Gregory Landis and wife, Kristin of Royersford and three great grandchildren, Marin, Chase and Evan. Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Kershner.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Frederick Mennonite Community Chapel, 2849 Big Road, Frederick with Bobbie Hoffman, Director of Discipling at St. James Lutheran Church, Limerick officiating. Interment will be private. Please visit with the family after 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Frederick Mennonite Community.
