Norma (Diaz) Smith, 76, wife of Willard E. Smith, of Red Hill, passed away on Friday, October4, 2013 in Season’s Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital. She and her husband celebrated 17 years of marriage on July 27, 2013.
Born in Tampa, Fl, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Leon) Diaz.
She worked in the transportation department at Spring Ford Area School District for 10 years. After retiring, Norma worked for the Perkiomen Valley Library.
Norma enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking and baking for her family. She made the best iced tea in the Valley. She also enjoyed the Phillies.
Along with her husband, she will be sadly missed by her three children, Cynthia M. Swope of Ephrata, Douglas M. Lowery and his wife, Liz of Spring City, and Christine A., wife of Matthew Reel of Sinking Spring; siblings, Peter Diaz and his companion, Bonnie Diaz of Cape May Court House, NJ, Rita, wife of Jack Inglehearn of Williamstown, NJ, Joseph Diaz and his wife, Hortensia of California, Margaret Paul of Robbinsville, NJ and sister-in-law, Joan Diaz, widow of Frank of Bensalem; four grandchildren, John, Adam, Alexandria and Madison; and a great-grandson, Dylan. She will also be sadly missed by all her loving nieces and nephews. Norma was predeceased by a sister, Mary Kulisek and two brothers, Alfonso and Frank Diaz, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg with Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home.
