Naomi M. (Riegner) Schoenly, 84, wife of the late Lawrence Y. Schoenly, of Barto, passed away peacefully in her home, in the care of her children, on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.
Born in Clayton, she was a daughter of the late Wesley S. and Emma B. (Moyer) Riegner.
She was a 1948 graduate of Boyertown High School and went on to partner with her husband, in a life-long family farm operation.
Naomi attended Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Clayton, where she taught Sunday School and played piano in church. She was dedicated to serving God, family and others. She was also loved to garden and canned and froze much of the produce.
Surviving are her four children, Patricia A. Folk of Barto; Diane M., wife of Gerald Detwiler of Green Lane; Lawrence W. “Sam” Schoenly and wife, Janet of Boyertown and Bruce A. Schoenly and companion, Debra of Barto; two siblings, her twin brother, Titus Riegner of Ephrata and sister, Mary M. Miller of Honeybrook; four grandchildren, Rachel Folk, Aaron Detwiler, Hannah Detwiler-Erwin and Travis Schoenly. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by four siblings, Harris, Joseph, Henry Riegner and Amanda Schultz.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, Pa with Rev. Dennis Brubacher officiating. Burial will follow in Christ Union Cemetery, Niantic. There will be a viewing on Monday from 7pm until 9pm and Tuesday from 10 am until 11 am at the funeral home.
