Michael George Scasny, 93, widower of the late Susan Evelyn (Folger) Scasny, of Lakeshore Drive, Pennsburg, Pennsylvania died on Tuesday, January, 5, 2010 in Lehigh Valley Hospice Center, Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Born in Lansford, Pennsylvania, he a son of the late Michael S. and the late Anna J. (Acamec) Schasney.
He was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Coast Guard for over 35 years retiring as a Commander in 1976.
He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion and the National Reserve Officers Association of the United States.
Survivors include a brother, Joseph Schasney and his wife, Marion of Venice, Florida; three sisters, Mary, widow of Dr. Nathanial Cohen of Queens, New York, Rosie, widow of Francis McArdle of Lansford, Pennsylvania and Paulette, wife of Michael G. Macenka of Pennsburg, Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Paul Schasney and 2 sisters, Agnes Schasney, and Anna Karabinos.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA with the Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Family and friends are invited to call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 2166 South 12th Street, Allentown, PA 18103.
