Melvin L. Lasure, known by many as "Mel" or Sonny”, of Zionsville, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, PA. He was 79 years old.
Born in Blackfield, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Viola (Butler) Lasure.
Mel served his Country proudly in the Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, Mel's skill for carpentry, led him to a career in construction. He owned and operated the former MD Developers in Port Chester New York and following that he worked at Adams and Bickels, Lott Construction and Haines and Kibbelhouse.
He was an active man and enjoyed hunting with his nephew in law, James Goodin, fishing, boating, gardening, farming, bowling, golfing, target shooting with Skylar Hahn, Camryn Hahn and Jacob Rood and architectural drawing. He also enjoyed cooking, an ice cold Budweiser, and Wednesday night family dinners with the Rood/Hahn family. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, taking care of all animals-wild and tame; was an avid fan of all forms of country music; and was a very proud Republican.
Surviving are his four children, Jordan Lasure (Lesley), Tiffany Kiker (Chris), Jennifer Dennis (Brad), and Andrea Lasure; and eight grandchildren, Julia, Cameron, Maxwell, Alexander, Susanna, London and Finley-Rose. He is also survived by three nieces, Kimberly Rood, with whom he resided, Cynthia Goodin, and Candace Wambold; a nephew, Jason Wambold; great nieces and nephews, Joshua Goodin and Jennifer Goodin, Nikki and Jacob Rood, and Daniel Wambold; great-great nephews, Skylar and Camryn Hahn; three brothers, Wayne, Bill, and Ray Lasure; Mel's childhood friend, Kenny Schaeffer; and his beloved dog, Mia. He is predeceased by five siblings, Martha, Marylou, Grace, Barbara and Roger.
