Mary (Fels) Leister, 97, widow of Fred H. Leister, formerly of Pennsburg, died on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in Life Quest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Rose (Wolf) Fels.
She was seamstress at the former Rosenau Brothers in Red Hill for over 20 years retiring in 1972 and enjoyed sewing, especially for her family.
She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are 6 daughters, Kathryn, widow of Richard Edelman of Quakertown, Fern, widow of Walter Henry, Sr. of Bechtelsville, Shirley Steinman of Coatesville, Dolores, widow of Ray Bieler of Lansdale, Joyce, wife of John Butera of Pittston and Diane Greisemer of East Greenville; a brother, Edwin Fels of Quakertown; a sister, Ida Fromm of Hereford; 22 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by 2 sons, Leroy L. Leister and Earl F. Leister; 4 brothers, Fred, Ernest, Gustav and Arthur Fels and 4 sisters, Louise Cressman, Catherine Fetterman, Rose Shelly and Anna Kneller.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville with the Rev. William A Vanderslice officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening and also 9 to 10 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home.
