Mary E. (Gardian) Gerstemeier, 93, of Red Hill, formerly of Beaver Dams, NY, passed away in the comfort of her daughter’s home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. She was the widow of William Gerstemeier, with whom she shared seven years of marriage.
Born in Pennsburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Sudora) Gardian.
Mary was a seamstress most of her working career at Pennsburg Clothing and other various factories before moving to New York. She lived in New York for 27 years before coming back home to live with her daughter.
Mary had a passion for dancing, especially Polka. She met her late partner of 28 years, William Vann, while Polka Dancing in New York. She also enjoyed reading and bird-watching.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Donna Wyse; two grandsons, Dan Trauger (Julie) and Michael Trauger (Mercedes); great-grandson, Mason James Trauger and another great-grandchild on the way; and nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her eight siblings, Margaret Young, Joseph Gardian, Anna Rickert, Baby Pauline Gardian, Pauline Feninez, John Gardian, Stephen Gardian and Baby Rosemarie Gardian; and Donna’s father and Mary’s ex-husband, George Wyse.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 with a burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg.
