Mary Rosaria (Mains) Fisher, 85, of Green Lane, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in the comforting presence of her family. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late, Robert D. Fisher, III.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Naselli) Mains.
Mary earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from West Chester University and a Bachelors in Nursing from Allentown College of St. Francis Desales. She worked tirelessly as a Pediatric Nurse at Grand View Hospital and was a school nurse for the Green Lane School. Mary was generous of heart and spirit, caring deeply not only for her patients, but for her many friends and neighbors as well. Mary derived her greatest joy spending time with her children and grandchildren, taking great pains to remain a compassionate supportive presence in whatever way was required. She was a truly merciful human being and faultless in her nonjudgmental care of those in need.
Mary cultivated a deep and enduring faith in God, she was a member of St. Philip Neri Church in Pennsburg, PA and frequently attended St. Mary’s Church in Schwenksville. Mary imparted her extensive knowledge of horticulture and avid love of gardening through sharing plants. Mary enjoyed observing and feeding a wide variety of birds and wildlife in her naturalized gardens. She touched everyone with her beautiful voice, her musical tastes crossing generations to the delight of her grandchildren. Mary authored a book entitled “Beat the Reading Disease”.
Surviving are her six children: Donna Fisher and husband, Bill Tran, Robert Fisher and wife, Kathy, Mary Kathleen Fisher-Glass and husband, Micheal Glass, Joseph Fisher and wife, Donna Semola, Andrew Fisher and wife, Nadia Woodhouse and Michael Fisher and wife, Valerie Benavidez, 16 grandchildren; and siblings, John Mains and wife, Theresa, Claire Steager and husband, Brian, and Eda Prescott. She is predeceased by her sister, Joan Jordan.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at St. Philip Neri Church, 1325 Klinerd Rd, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with a burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery in Pennsburg, PA. A visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 AM at the church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA.
