Martha Wambold

August 9, 1940 — September 23, 2016

Martha “Marti” E. (Lasure) Wambold, 76, of Hatfield, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Born August 9, 1940 in Somerset, PA, Marti was a wonderful mother of Cynthia L. Goodin (Noakes) spouse James F. Goodin, Kimberly Rood (Noakes), Candace Wambold and Jason Wambold spouse Sara Wambold. She was a loving sister of many brothers and sisters but she was the closest to Melvin Lasure and Grace Shaw (Lasure). She was devoted to her 12 grandchildren- Jennifer Goodin, Nikki Rood, Joshua Goodin, Daniel Wambold, Jason Wambold Jr, Jacob Rood, Brodie, Aidan, Rylee, Keegan, Cassidy, Averie- and to her two great grandchildren Skylar and Camryn Hahn.

Marti had a story to tell: how she grew up in poverty with many Lasure siblings-Mary Lou, Mel, Grace, Ray, Wayne, Bill, Barbara, and their late baby brother, Roger. It was said that her parents (preceded in death) Arthur and Viola Lasure (Butler), had a total of 18 children in all. Marti was a former employee of 30 years at Merck Sharpe and Dohme, 10 years at Grand View Hospital as a file clerk in Radiology, and for the past five years to present performing clerical duties with Cynthia L. Goodin, LLC. Marti was famous at work for her loyalty, dedication, hard work, and her particular attention to detail. We all loved her homemade Easter candy, pineapple upside down cake, and her new recipes found in the latest magazines. Marti loved the Lord Jesus and tried to follow his teachings throughout her life. As an advent reader, Marti’s favorite book was God’s word, the Bible. She laughed heartily, had a wonderful smile, was kind hearted by giving all that she could to those that were in need, and was a contributor to charities such as Purple Heart, Wounded Warriors, American Cancer Society, & St Jude’s Hospital Foundation. Our Mom was a wonderful cook, an excellent decorator, and at Christmas time her home looked majestic. I know I can speak for the whole family and all her friends that Marti was a gift from God. She was our best friend in time of need, the one we could depend on, the one we love and the one we cherished. Our Mom, our Nana, our Best friend, and our Sister, Marti was the greatest person we knew and she will be so greatly missed!

Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041. Offer sympathy to the family on our website at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
