Marie Schiffgens

Marie A. (Hemmerle) Schiffgens, 78, of Red Hill, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem. She was the wife of George J. Schiffgens celebrating 59 years of marriage on November 7, 2012.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie (Thomas) Hemmerle.

Marie was a member of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship and was an active mother, enjoyed camping and fishing with her two boys, ceramics with friends and church activities with her sweetheart of sixty years, George. Her career was with various businesses as a secretary and assisting George with his art studio endeavors.

Surviving along with her husband are two sons, Joseph H. Schiffgens and wife, Lorie of Lansdale and The Honorable David H. Schiffgens and wife, Rosemary of Red Hill, four grandchildren, Danielle Shiffgens, Brianna Schiffgens, Catherine Allen and Nicholas Schiffgens and four great grandchildren, Ashley and Robbie Allen and Grace and Julianna Schiffgens.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, 2788 Geryville Pike, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Rev. Jay Miles, Associate Pastor officiating. A private interment will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem, PA. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at church.
