Linda M. (Garrety) Cooper, 60, wife of Fred Cooper, of Milky Way, Zionsville, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem. She and her husband were married for 33 years on September 18, 2009.
Born in York, PA she was a daughter of the late Donald and Martha (Paddison) Garrety.
She was employed as a Registered Nurse for 25 years and was a 1970 graduate of Temple University School of Nursing, where she began her career. She then worked at John Kennedy Hospital followed by St. Luke’s Hospital, Quakertown where she served many patients in the Emergency Room. She also taught nursing at Northampton Community College for 5 years.
She attended St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She was a Life Member and Board Member of the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital and served as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack # 591 and the Boy Scouts at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.
Surviving along with her husband are 2 sons, Timothy M. and Jeffrey M. Cooper, both at home, a brother, Paul Garrety and his wife, Debbie of York; a sister, Dorothy Emich and her husband, Michael of York and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Garrety.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Philip Neri Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg with Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville and also 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at church.
