Leroy B. Long, 83, husband of Hope Kathleen (Pfrommer) Long, of Green Lane, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at his home.
Born September 6, 1930 he was a son of the late Ephraim T. and Florence (Bishop) Long.
He was a graduate of East Greenville High School and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, serving with Squadron ZR1, flying in blimps for two years, after which, he served on the USS WASP CV-18.
Leroy worked for the American Olean Tile of Lansdale for 32 years before retiring in 1989.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sumneytown, and was a former church council member and ushers assistant.
Leroy was a lifelong member of the Green Lane Fire Co, VFW Post #5954 of Red Hill, American Legion Post #0184 of East Greenville, and the Masonic Lodge Perkiomen #595, where he was a 32nd degree Mason of the Valley of Reading Consistory.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years are his daughters, Cheryl, wife of Randy Carson of Red Hill and Stephanie Pritchard of Pennsburg; two grandchildren, Crystal Carson and Alec Pritchard; three brothers, Ephraim Long and wife, Anna of Pennsburg; Richard Long and wife, Grace of Red Hill and Ronald Long and wife, Shirley of Harleysville; sister, Ella Mae, wife of Marvin Underkoffler of Harleysville. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Roy Long.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3104 Main St, Sumneytown, PA 18084 with Rev. Rebecca Eisenhart officiating. There will be a visitation from 10 until 11 a.m. and Masonic Services at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be private.
