Leonard W. Brinckman, 86, husband of June F. (Freed) Brinckman, of East Greenville, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Towne Manor West in Norristown. He and his wife celebrated 61 years of marriage on August 26, 2011.
Born in Hoppenville, PA, he was a son of the late Charles and Blanche (Kline) Brinckman.
He was a laborer at Superior Tube for many years retiring in 1988 and also had worked at Valley Bag in his earlier years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a demolition specialist during World War II and earning 3 bronze stars.
He was a member of Pennsburg United Church of Christ. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors and was a huge Phillies, Eagles and Flyers fan and enjoyed supporting the local scholastic sports teams.
He especially loved his family and friends and will be sadly missed by his wife; son, Lane L. Brinckman and wife, Lynn B. of East Greenville; his brothers, Stanley Brinckman of Royersford and formerly of East Greenville and Raymond Brinckman and wife, Sally of Hop Bottom and his two grandchildren, Danielle D. and Melissa J. Brinckman of Philadelphia. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Wayne.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday at Pennsburg UCC, 775 Main Street, Pennsburg with Rev. Rebecca Stephens officiating. Interment follows in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
