Leon S. Pennepacker, 88, of East Greenville, died Monday, November 30, 2020 at his home in East Greenville. He was the husband of Margaret S. (Fox) Pennepacker, sharing 66 years of marriage together.

Born December 3, 1931 in East Greenville, he was the son of the late Ralph and Beulah (Trumbauer) Pennepacker.

Leon was a 1949 graduate of East Greenville High School where he excelled in playing football and basketball. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War where he was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for his honorable service.
He along with his mother, owned Leon’s Flower Shop for 20 years and also worked in landscaping for many years. He took pride in his landscaping business and created personalized landscape designs to many of his local customers. After his retirement, he worked for Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home for 20 years, retiring in 2011.

Leon held a life membership in the Upper Perkiomen Jaycees, of which he was a charter member. He was also a lifetime member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ in East Greenville where he taught Sunday School for several years, served on Consistory and decorated the church with his beautiful floral arrangements for Christmas and Easter.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Leon F. Pennepacker and wife, Cynthia of San Marcos, CA; two daughters, Peg Pennepacker and partner, Robyn Kermes of Red Hill, PA and Michelle Irvine and husband, Kenneth of Coronado, CA; twin grandsons Jack and Conner of Coronado, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter and brother, Ralph.

A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041. A private family service will follow. A public committal service will be held at 12 noon at St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pennsburg where military honors will be performed.

Due to the current pandemic restrictions, we will only be allowing a limited number of people in the funeral home at a time. Guests will be asked to wait outside until they are able to enter. Please dress accordingly, wear a mask and practice social distancing.
