Laura A. (Younker) Young, 96, of Parkhouse Providence Pointe and formerly of Spring City, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Season’s Hospice in Phoenixville. She was the wife of the late Cyril L. Young, Sr.
Born in Adams Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter and oldest of 16 children of the late Pearl (Spencer) and Theodore Younker.
She began working in the 1950’s in the cafeteria of the Charles Johnson Home, now know as Parkhouse Providence Pointe, then worked at the Farringer’s Dairy Farm in Worcester. She and her husband then ran the farm and worked together for many years. She was adored by her entire family and was a very musical person and enjoyed singing hymns. She also loved gardening and flowers.
Surviving are four daughters, Nancy L. Trescott of Wilmington, DE, Fay A., wife of William Jakoby of Gilbertsville, Janice R Muller of Phoenixville and Iris L., wife of Frank Blanche of Royersford; her daughter-in-law, Marilyn R. Young of Green Lane; 6 siblings; 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Jean Jones and a son, Cyril L. Young, Jr.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville PA 18041 with the Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens, Senior Pastor officiating. Burial follows in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
