Laura Harriet Smith

Laura Harriet (Walter) Smith, 84, widow of Robert K. Smith, formerly of Pennsburg, passed away April 2, 2014 at Abbey Manor in Elkton, MD.

Born June 26, 1929 in Red Hill, she was a daughter of the late Monroe and Sally (Bardman) Walter, a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ and a graduate of Pennsburg High School.

Harriet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader, puzzle builder and gardener
who took great pride in her home. Harriet also enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay during the summer. She dedicated herself to family and friends throughout her life.

Harriet will be sadly missed by her son, Michael R. Smith and wife, Joan M. of Elkton, MD; siblings, Franklin Walter of Boyertown; Dorothy, wife of Carl Wahl, Agnes, wife of Charles Zepp, all of Pennsburg; and 2 grandchildren, Christopher Smith and Stephanie Smith of Elkton, MD. Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Leroy Walter, Horace Walter, Russell Walter, Lucy Finkboon, Cara Fluck, Marie Schwenk, Lillie Smith, and Florence Piccirilli.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Rd, East Greenville, PA 18041 with Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens officiating. Burial follows in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St, East Greenville, PA 18041 and also from 11 am to 12 noon Monday at church.
