Kenneth R. Latshaw, 78, of Kutztown Road, Pennsburg, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Rita P. (Yerger) Latshaw celebrating 56 years of marriage on October 22nd.
Born in Perkiomenville, he was a son of the late Russell and Esther (Schultz) Latshaw.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea.
He worked as a Mechanic at Latshaw’s Garage in Gilbertsville for 39 years retiring in 1989 and was a life member of the Gilbertsville Fire Company.
Surviving along with his wife are five children, Dennis M. Latshaw and wife, Kathy of Pennsburg, Thomas C. Latshaw, widower of Beverly of East Greenville, Theresa M. Thayer and husband, Russell of Wilmington, DE, Gary L. Latshaw and companion Marlene Grow of Boyertown and Brian S. Latshaw of Pennsburg; a sister, Anna Derr and husband, Paul of Eshbach; six grandchildren, Dennis, Jr., Chad, Amanda and Jaclyn Latshaw and Russell and Steven Thayer and three great grandchildren, Caden, Colby and Teagan Latshaw. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Graber.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg with the Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Burial follows in Holy Cross Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to the service. The Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville is in charge of the arrangements.
