Kathleen A. “Kathy” (Lagler) Richard, 66, of Red Hill, passed away, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Quakertown. She was the loving wife of Larry D. Richard, celebrating 45 years of marriage in June.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Franklin T. and Minnie K. (Butz) Lagler.
Kathy was a 1970 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School and worked at Harleysville Insurance, now Nationwide Insurance, for 38 years before retiring in 2018.
A woman of faith, she was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Zionsville, where she was a Sunday School teacher, head of the ladies class, and took care of the church accounting.
She was a Girl Scout leader for almost 20 years and then served as the Upper Perk Service Unit Director for many years and was also a member of the Stahl’s Pottery Preservation Society.
Surviving along with her husband, are her two children, Serena M. Richard and wife, Cristen Smith of Red Hill and Ashley N. Richard of Hershey, PA; two honorary grandchildren, Jena and Caleb Dahlinger; a brother, Dennis F. Lagler and wife, Sue of Emmaus, PA; and two sisters, Marion K. Harpel of Macungie, PA and Donna J., wife of Keith Schantz of East Greenville, PA.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, January 24, 2019 held from 10 to 11 am at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 followed by a service at 11:45 am at Salem United Methodist Church, 6440 Powder Valley Rd., Zionsville, PA 18092 with Pastor Robin Roman officiating. There will be no viewing at the church. A burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery after the service.
