Kathryn Dunn

Kathryn "Kay" Rothermel (Rehfuss) Dunn, 98, widow of Frederick Alexander Dunn, of Lansdale, died on March 16, 2011 at Parkhouse Providence Pointe.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Charles T. and Alice (Cope) Rehfuss.

She and her husband were the original owners of the Bay Pony Inn in Lederach and she was an accomplished chef and commissioned artist and a pilot, motorcyclist and equestrian. She also had been a professional dancer and singer with a Philadelphia dance troop and was invited to be a member of the Ziegfeld Follies Theatrical Production Company.

She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Obelisk. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Montgomery County SPCA and an animal rights activist for the adoption of animals and was instrumental in enacting legislation banning horse meat for human consumption. She did a weekly radio show on WBYO in Boyertown and WNPV in Lansdale on pet adoption. She was a life member of the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts.

Surviving are daughters, Alexandra D. Davis of Parker Ford and Fredricka A.S. Davis of Harleysville; daughter-in-laws, Lisa Dunn of East Greenville and Deborah C. Howard Davis of Parker Ford; sister-in-law, Lois G. Rehfuss of Downingtown; 3 grandchildren, Barry Dunn, Jr., Kathryn M. Cabral and husband, Vince and Robert M. Dunn and wife, Linda; 6 great grandchildren, Rachael and Stephanie Cabral and Nicholas, Destry and Michael Dunn and Mikaela Davis. Along with her parents and husband she is predeceased by sons, Frederick Oberholtzer and Barry D. Dunn; 2 brothers, John G. and Caleb C. Rehfuss and a great granddaughter, Heather Dunn.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville with Rev. Deacon Dolly Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in Frieden’s Union Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
